Sound is on it's way

Thanks to Xavier Losada and Ricardo Martinez, in Venezuela. They just joined the team to finish Thou Shalt Not Dream.

Xavier Losada is a Venezuelan composer and producer who has worked in theater and music for several years already. Check out his website xavierlosada.com to learn more about his latest CD Release, Escritorio. He also scored and designed the sound for the last short film we finished a month ago: 434, a story about a guy that gets trapped in the 4th floor of a hotel because of fooling around with the metaphysical.

Ricardo Martinez, is part of the Venezuelan band Wahala, and he did de foley of the last short film 434, working closely with Xavier.

We are very glad to have back.

Tomorrow I'm having a meeting with another friend to start moving the VisualFX and compositing that is needed!

River Of Copsa Mica Pictures

My very good friend Ryan Uzilevsky, the Production Designer of Thou Shalt Not Dream, and my roommate, just finished the shoot of the most important scene for his shortfilm River of Copsa Mica.

It was an increible production, a piece of art completely alive!

Post Production

OK... it's been a while and there are at least 50 + people wating to see the finished film. And I'm sorry to anounce that I haven't finished the cut! I got busy with the day to day job, and trying to pay back the debts and bills.

It's been 4 month since we wraped. September will be the decisive moment. I'll finish the cut and hand it over to the Sound Designer. I promise. Right here, in front of everyone with a web browser. Haha.

Mean while check out Ryan's movie The River of Copsa Mica. In the website you can see the trailer, and drawings and storyline. If you have some money you can donate a little. Ryan was the Production Designer for Thou Shalt Not Dream, and he has been working very hard in his project for the last year. 75% of the movie has already been shot, and we are preproducing the climax scene, that involves beatiful rituals inspired on antique Rumanian mithology.

Production dates are Oct. 6th, 7th and 8th, upstate New York.

It's a wrap and starting post

Hello everyone.

First thing, I want to thank everyone who helped in the creation of this fantastic piece. I know it wasn't easy. But everyone put a lot of dedication and did an exceptional work.

The results of all this work can be seen in the image. The footage came back from the lab looking phenomenal. We saw it and now we have started the post production process. We are planning on being done by the end of July or the beginning of August. Mean while, you can see the photographs that Samantha shot in the photo gallery.

Count down

It has been a very different last month of my life. Our apartment turned into a studio, our lives became devoted to the project.

We are three days from shooting. Everything seams very well in place. Everyone is in the same page.

We are expecting ling days, a lot of work on set. Three days, when around 30 people are going to put the best of their effort to make this project happen. It started as my school project, and now is more like OUR art project.

Talent, art, location, food, transportation, makeup, lights, genie, camera, film, check check check. Everything seams to me there, little by little we are getting there.

Last week of preproduction

It has being a lot of craziness. But it seams like it is working out.

The Cast is almost in place, we are just waiting for some confirmations. The shooting has already a tentative schedule, we a location locked down!

The biggest task now is to have the set built and the costumes ready for the day of the shoot. Tomorrow Ryan, Tao and I are going to Material for the Arts to pick up some supplies, thanks to our new collaborators Pregones Theater.

Just so everyone know. Out living room is still a mess.

StoryBoards

I am very happy to say that my sketches of the storyboard are ready! 63 shots to have a whole movie, at least how it is visualized right now. We all know changes will come. Locations, conditions, actors, so many things are going to change this storyboard, but now we can all have a good idea of how the movie is going to play.

Camera Test

We got the camera test back. We projected it. It was great to do this test. Now we know
what stock we are going to use. Eterna 500 T. It's got a beautifully grain to it. It has a great contrast so we can have parts of the frame in the shadows.

The colors and the textures in this stock are more what we are looking for that the other stock we tested, the Reala 500 D.

So that said, know we can make some aesthetics decisions we couldn't make before, about lighting and props and costumes.

Yesterday Ryan and Tao García (my very good friend from Venezuela helping Ryan) went shopping for the movie, and they got some great things. As soon as we have some photographs will put them up in a gallery.

Pre Production Update

It's been a couple of days since the last post. I've being away from the computer, doing some creative work done. My story boards are almost ready. Tomorrow there will be something new for everyone to download and see. Then Jason, the story board artist, is going to make a better looking ones.

As for the casting. I still want to see some people. I post a new ad on craigslist. Let's see what comes up with that.

The locations we have plans of doing some scouting this week. And the plan is to have them locked down by the week end. Hopefully this week is going to work out that way. Abandoned Precint, Fort Totten, a warehouse in Brooklyn, some people we know in New Jersey.

Soon we will have photos and videos of the test. And headshots of our actors.
